Biography

Becky Wright is an award-winning Christian singer/songwriter and Nashville recording artist from Oklahoma.  In May 2008 she was named "Female Songwriter of the Year" at the Agape Fest in Texas. A gifted worship leader and conference speaker as well, Becky performs across the USA at churches, festivals, homeless shelters, and for adoption events.  Singing and writing since childhood, her worldwide acclaim began with the writing of “Child of My Heart”, an adoption song which won her the title “Duo of the Year” and a Top 5 Female Horizon Award at the 2006 Agape Fest (TX).  The song was recorded in Nashville with Tommy Brandt, CCMA (Christian Country Music Association) Male Vocalist & Entertainer of the Year, and is now used by adoption and related organizations such as the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (Adoption Services), Arkansas Adoption Coalition, Gift for a Child, ATTACH.org, and others.

The impact of this song has opened worldwide doors for this school-teacher-turned-artist/songwriter, with a 2006 recording contract with Dove/GMA Award-winning Lamon Records.  Becky’s “No Denying” Contemporary/ Inspirational Christian project includes six songs penned by Wright, and the first cover of the John Waller hit, “Blessing/ This Day”, who months later landed a record contract with Beach Street Records, a branch of Rocketown Records.

Becky recalls, “I just CRIED as I listened to “This Day/Blessing” for the first time, sent to me by Troy Denning and John Waller, who co-wrote this powerful song. I KNEW it had to be on my project. Little did I know, however that John would be recording his own album four months later and releasing it to radio. My mother called me one day, saying, ‘Becky, I think some guy stole your song I heard it on the radio, but a MAN was singing it!’  Mom was so accustomed to me writing all my own material, that she thought I’d written that one, too!  We still laugh and sing along when we hear it on the radio. I’ve always been able to pick a winner!”

The stage began to grow for this mom of four boys (and adopting two more children in 2009!!), whose first single from the “No Denying” project, “While It is Day”, landed a First Ballot spot for “Inspirational Song of the Year” for a 2007 GMA/Dove Award, with artists such as Chris Rice, Darlene Zschech, Fernando Ortega, and the late Dottie Rambo, who took home the honor... and just this May 2008, went home to be with the Jesus she loved so much.  Becky’s schedule skyrocketed with radio interviews in Australia, Canada, several USA stations and syndicated shows, television appearances, and a nationwide touring schedule.  Becky has opened for Christian artists such as Salvador, The Imperials, Charity Von, Joanne Cash-Yates (sister of the late Johnny Cash), and shared stages with Watermark, Stella Parton, and Michele Pillar. She has opened for country greats Bryan White (six #1 Singles), Jamey Johnson (CMA & ACM Song of the Year Co-writer), and Jason Meadows (18 Video Tapes, 100% Cowboy, Nashville Star Finalist). With over 40 songs published and numerous songs cut already, Becky signed a new Publishing & Administration Agreement with Banner Music Publishing (Shelbyville, TN) in March of 2008.

Her second single from the album breaks from the tradition of contemporary Christian music, in an enthralling story song called “Billy’s Train”, described as a mix of Alison Krauss and early Dolly Parton. Christian and country fans alike, including radio stations, continue to flock to the innate songwriting talents of a woman whom, by her own admission, said
: “I was happy to remain in the shadows and write for other artists… I enjoy the anonymity and time at home… but God has thrust me out of my ‘comfort zone’ for HIS purposes, which are infinitely higher… and wiser, than mine.” Thousands of children in the U.S.A. alone are in permanent foster care and awaiting adoption by their “forever family”, and the ADOPTION songs, which tell their story, had only just begun.

Call Me Loved”, the first release of the upcoming album, “The Heart of Adoption”, is the heart-cry of the orphan, the foster child, the forgotten child, the abused or neglected child, and is already touching hearts around the country. Produced by Robert Jason, the L.A.-turned-Nashville producer with credits such as Reba McEntire, Oak Ridge Boys, Barry White, Disney, Coco-cola and more, this poignant song includes top musicians who’ve played with Wynonna, Big & Rich, and Keith Urban. Becky is a Staff Missionary of Artists in Christian Testimony, International in Brentwood, TN, a Non-Profit 501 c3 Ministry. Sponsors are needed for the album and “Heart of Adoption Tour”. What can music like this do? Help put the lonely in families… help save lives of unborn babies… and change lives forever.  That’s better than any trophy on the mantle.  Just ask Becky Wright.

                                                                                                   Fun Trivia Facts:
*Becky's songs have been recorded by several other artists in Christian and country music, but her first "outside cut" was an instrumental composition used in an
international award-winning video ("The Power of Place"), produced by her alma mater Northeastern State University (BSEd, 1994) and the Tahlequah City Chamber of Commerce.
*She writes musicals for the schools in which she teaches,
teaches private voice and piano, and tunes pianos--- a perfect combo for a girl who started playing the piano at the age of three
 *
Becky has been a member of the  GMA (Gospel Music Association), the since 1991, and attended the very FIRST "GMA Academy" held in Dallas at Prestonwood Baptist Church, before the GMA acquired the Estes Park conference.  She sat in a room with Wayne Watson, who listened to (and was very complimentary of) her song, "Middleman", from her first album. The following week, she sent her song, "For Such a Time as This" to Wayne's producer, Jackie Patillo. Eighteen months later, Wayne's version of "For Such a Time as This" was on radio. GREAT IDEA!
*
Becky made her first RECORDING days before turning SIX years old... a piano composition (long before reading music) which her father recorded on a cassette tape at their home in Tulsa, OK.
*Becky wrote her first song
(with words and music) at the age of 10, a sad song called "Unreachable". She used to sing it with her best friend, LaGina Shed, who also wrote songs. LaGina died of complications from Cystic Fibrosis a few weeks after they both graduated high school.  Becky still owns the 45 rpm record (2-sided single) that LaGina recorded of her own songs.
*Becky became a Christian at the age of 12
, and began immediately writing songs about her newfound faith. Her first Christian/gospel song was a simple but powerful prayer called "Help Me".
*Becky and her husband and children have a Cocker Spaniel named Buddy, a 16-yr-old cat named Furrball, and a parakeet named "Chessie". We thought she was a "Chester" and learned differently!

                                                                                                                                                                     From Becky's heart:
"God has brought me through many heart-aches (and joys) that most of us will face during our short lives here on earth.
Through my  parent's divorce, my own divorce and abandonment by my first husband, losing a baby through miscarriage, "losing" my own children prematurely as they went to check out the "greener grass" of the other parent's home, seemingly very early deaths of many close family members, including my 35-year old little sister drowning and leaving behind five young children... the heartaches have seemed overwhelming at times.  BUT GOD....  but GOD.... but GOD... praise His name... NEVER left me, never abandoned me, never forgot me!  As I look back, I can see SO many times (as you probably can, too) His hand of mercy carrying me, leading me where He wanted me, continually doing the most AMAZING things in my life that NO ONE could have imagined!  He's still doing that today, as I write, so that I will ALWAYS be able (by His grace) to trust Him, to worship Him for His WORTHINESS, His Majesty, His GLORY!  This life is a vapor, but His Word stands FOREVER!
This life is short-- I want to make every day, every breath, every effort and thought-- count for eternity. Heaven is REAL-- and JESUS paid the price to cover the debt of sin that we owed to open Heaven's doors to US-- and to give us hope and power to live this life here on earth !!  WOW!  Wanna' come?? Read this..."
